The Cambridge Society for Early Music, in collaboration with the Boston Clavichord Society, is pleased to announce two Masterclasses, in baroque flute and in harpsichord, with the renowned Dutch performers Marten Root and Menno Van Delft, on Friday, 4th April 2008.  The Masterclasses, open to the public and free of charge for auditors, will occur at the First Church Congregational in Cambridge, 11 Garden Street (directions), 10-12 A.M. for flutists and 1:30-3:30 P.M. for harpsichordists.  These Masterclasses are being held in conjunction with the artists' performances for CSEM and the Boston Clavichord Society.

 

 

Any qualified advanced student is welcome to apply to participate in this event. Preference will be given to those currently studying with a teacher. CSEM will select four students from the pool of applicants for each instrumental category.  Each accepted participant will be allowed up to a maximum of thirty minutes with his/her respective Master Teacher.  In the event of a large number of qualified applicants, CSEM reserves the right to limit participants to only one student from any given teacher. Applicants should send contact information, a brief biography, a short musical sample on CD (not to exceed ten minutes), and chosen repertoire to: CSEM Masterclass Committee, P.O. A double-manual harpsichord tuned to Valotti temperament at a’ = 415 will be available to all participants.
